Upper Glasgow Council Cemeteries: Community Burial Services

 

Upper Glasgow Council is dedicated to providing respectful, accessible, and sustainable burial services for all residents. The Council manages two main cemeteries, each serving a vital role in the community:

 

Upper Glasgow Cemetery

Location: De Castella Drive, Upper Glasgow

 

Current Status: Undergoing a major expansion and renovation to meet community needs through until February 2027.

 

Key Features:

  • Lawn/Beamed Plots: Well-maintained lawn and beamed burial plots offering a peaceful and dignified setting for loved ones.

  • Memorial Boulder(s): Distinctive memorial boulders available for personalized plaques and commemorations.

  • Memorial Garden Sites: Beautifully landscaped garden areas designed for quiet reflection and remembrance.

  • Monumental Plots: Traditional monumental plots that allow for custom headstones and family memorials.

  • Niche/Ashes Wall: Dedicated walls for the respectful placement of ashes, with options for inscribed plaques.

 

Upcoming features

  • Upgraded reflection garden with new memorial plaque 

  • Enhanced facilities for families and visitors

Project Timeline:

Construction began in March 2026

Scheduled for completion in February 2027

 

Community Impact: While temporary disruptions (such as road closures and noise) are expected, the Council is committed to minimising inconvenience and keeping residents informed.

 

Leiselville Cemetery

Location: Jones Drive, Leiselville, approximately a 30-minute drive from Upper Glasgow Cemetery

 

Key Features:

  • Lawn/Beamed Plots: Well-maintained lawn and beamed burial plots offering a peaceful and dignified setting for loved ones.

  • Memorial Boulder(s): Distinctive memorial boulders available for personalized plaques and commemorations.

  • Monumental Plots: Traditional monumental plots that allow for custom headstones and family memorials.
