Half Yearly Newsletter, July 2026

As we move through another busy and productive period for Upper Glasgow Council, I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the commitment, professionalism and community focus shown by our staff, partners and elected representatives. Across the organisation, we continue to make strong progress on important projects and workplace initiatives that will support our community now and into the future.

Key Project Update: Cemetery Expansion Reaches Final Stage

One of our most significant current projects, the Upper Glasgow Cemetery expansion, is now reaching its final stage. This has been a carefully planned and respectfully delivered project, recognising the importance of providing appropriate, accessible and well-managed cemetery services for our community. The work completed to date reflects a strong focus on long-term planning, sensitive design and the practical needs of families who will rely on this important community facility for many years to come.

I would like to thank the project team, contractors and staff involved for their diligence and care throughout the process. Their efforts have ensured that the project has continued to progress successfully, with the final stage now bringing us closer to delivering an expanded, high-quality and enduring community asset.

A New Chapter: Workforce Agreement Roll Out in November

We are also preparing for the exciting roll out of Council’s new workforce agreement in November. This marks an important and positive new chapter for Upper Glasgow Council, and it is especially pleasing that the agreement has been shaped through extensive engagement with a broad cross-section of our staff. The process has provided valuable opportunities for employees from across the organisation to contribute their views, ask questions and help shape an agreement that reflects our shared priorities.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and the new agreement gives us a strong platform to continue building a workplace that is fair, modern, collaborative and focused on delivering excellent services for our community. I want to thank everyone who participated in the engagement process and contributed constructively to this important outcome.

Community Spirit: Good Luck to Upper Glasgow Soccer Team

Finally, I encourage everyone to get behind the Upper Glasgow soccer team as they take the field in their grand final this weekend. Reaching a grand final is a tremendous achievement and a proud moment for the players, coaches, volunteers, families and supporters who contribute so much to local sport. On behalf of Upper Glasgow Council, I wish the team every success and encourage the community to show their support.

Thank you again to everyone who continues to contribute to the progress, pride and spirit of Upper Glasgow. I look forward to sharing further updates as these important initiatives continue to develop.
