Mayor Susie O’Neill has been a proud lifelong resident of the Upper Glasgow area, deeply rooted in the community she calls home. Known for her approachable leadership style and unwavering commitment to local progress, she is currently serving her second term as Mayor.

Throughout her tenure, Mayor O’Neill has championed initiatives to strengthen local infrastructure, support small businesses, and enhance community services, all while preserving the area’s unique character. Her dedication to fostering a connected, inclusive, and forward-looking Upper Glasgow Council, has earned her the respect and trust of residents across generations.

Councillor Peter Bol is currently serving his first term on council, bringing fresh energy and a strong commitment to his community. Known for his approachable nature and dedication to positive change, Peter is passionate about fostering vibrant, connected neighbourhoods. His focus on collaboration and forward-thinking solutions reflects his belief that small, consistent actions can create lasting impact.

 

Outside of his civic duties, he is an avid cyclist who enjoys exploring local trails and promoting active, healthy lifestyles and is the father of three daughters, who all share his love for the outdoors.

Councillor Dan Carter is a long-standing resident of the Upper Glasgow area, where he has proudly called home for decades. Known for his humour, Dan has served as a dedicated local representative, advocating for neighbourhood improvements, small business growth, and community wellbeing.

 

Outside of council chambers, Dan is the owner of a beloved local fish and chip shop "Batter Days Ahead", a gathering place where locals and visitors alike enjoy hearty meals and friendly conversation. His hands-on experience as a small business owner gives him a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local enterprises, which he brings to his work in public service.

Councillor Kyle Chalmers is a bold and vocal figure in local politics, known for his unfiltered honesty and unwavering commitment to representing residents who often feel overlooked. Never one to shy away from difficult conversations, he has built a reputation as a champion for community groups and advocate of robust discussion.

 

While his forthright style has sparked debate and occasional controversy, many in the community see him as a rare advocate who listens deeply, speaks plainly, and fights tirelessly for fairness and transparency in local decision-making.

Councillor Zoe Hobbs is a long-serving and dedicated representative of her community, known for her commitment to fostering growth and opportunity within the Upper Glasgow area. As both a respected local business owner and a proud mother of two, Zoe brings a grounded, people-first approach to her work.

Molly brings fresh energy, a collaborative spirit, and a strong focus on transparency, sustainability, and community engagement to her role, working tirelessly to deliver practical solutions that benefit residents today and for generations to come.

Councillor Nicola Olyslager brings a wealth of governance expertise gained during her employed at a not for profit, underpinned by a meticulous approach and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

 

A former elite athlete, Nicola channels the discipline, focus, and resilience honed in sport into her public service. Known for her passion for detail and high standards, she is a dedicated perfectionist who strives to deliver outcomes that serve her community with integrity, transparency, and precision.

Now serving his second term on council, Hamish Kerr is a dedicated community leader known for his hands-on approach and genuine care for others. Beyond the council chambers, Hamish serves as a volunteer firefighter and gives his time at the local library, reflecting his deep commitment to service.

 

A passionate community action advocate, he is often found lending a hand — from supporting local initiatives to helping neighbours in times of need. Hamish’s work is driven by a belief in building a safer, stronger, and more connected community for all.

Councillor Olivia McTaggart is a proud fourth-generation Upper Glasgow resident, deeply rooted in the community she serves. She is also the fifth member of her family to serve as an elected member of Upper Glasgow Council.

 

With a lifelong passion for vibrant public spaces and inclusive community art, Olivia champions projects that bring people together and celebrate local identity. Her commitment to fostering creativity and connection is at the heart of her work, ensuring Upper Glasgow remains a welcoming and inspiring place for all.
