Picnic and BBQ Facilities

Enjoying Picnic and BBQ Areas with Upper Glasgow Council
Upper Glasgow Council is committed to fostering vibrant, inclusive, and accessible public spaces for all residents and visitors. Our picnic and BBQ areas are designed to support community wellbeing, encourage outdoor recreation, and provide safe, enjoyable environments for gatherings of all sizes.

Council-Provided Barbecues
Our parks and reserves feature free-to-use gas or electric barbecues, available daily from 6:00am to 9:00pm. These facilities are maintained and cleaned regularly by Council staff to ensure a high standard of hygiene and safety. Each barbecue operates on a timer system, making them easy and convenient for everyone to use. To help keep these spaces pleasant for all, we kindly ask that you clean the barbecue after use.

Bringing Your Own Barbecue
Visitors are welcome to bring portable gas or electric barbecues to our parks and reserves. Please note, however, that power points are not provided for electric barbecues, so plan accordingly. When using a portable barbecue, always follow Council guidelines to ensure safety and environmental care.

Important: Solid fuel barbecues and rotisseries—those using heat beads, wood, coal, or other solid materials—are strictly prohibited in all Crown Reserves. This includes Lewis Reserve, Freeman Park, Zalewski Park, and Nobbs Reserve. This policy helps protect our parks from fire risk and environmental damage.

Keeping Our Parks Safe and Welcoming
