Community Venues for Hire at Upper Glasgow Council

Upper Glasgow Council is committed to fostering community connection by making a range of community venues available for hire. These facilities are designed to support gatherings, celebrations, meetings, and a wide variety of community activities, ensuring that every resident has access to spaces that help build a vibrant, connected community.

 

1. Fairweather Town Hall

Location: 15 Erika Road, Fairweather
Capacity: Up to 100 guests
Facilities:

  • Main hall, lesser hall, and committee room available for hire

  • Equipment: PA system, flipchart, screen, multimedia projector (bring your own laptop), tables, chairs, kitchen, induction loop

  • Accessibility: Wheelchair access, disabled toilets, induction loop for hearing assistance

  • Suitable for: Meetings, children’s dance classes, social functions, private parties, and community events

Fairweather Hall is a versatile venue used by the community for a range of activities. All equipment is included in the booking cost, and the facility is accessible for users with additional needs. The hall is well-suited for both private and corporate events, with flexible room setups and competitive rates.

 

2. Thorpe Town Hall

Location: 1 Ian Ln, Thorpe
Capacity: Main Hall seats 80+ (with stage), Meeting Room seats up to 30
Facilities:

  • Main hall with stage, meeting room, kitchen (oven, microwaves, fridge, dishwasher), crockery and cutlery

  • On-site parking for 12 cars, children’s playground, wheelchair access

  • Suitable for: Parties, performances, wedding receptions, meetings, exhibitions, community and team events

Thorpe Town Hall is a Grade II listed building with a rich history as a community meeting place. It offers flexible spaces for both large and small events, with modern amenities and a welcoming atmosphere.

 

3. Old Scout Hall, Thorpe (Thorpe Community Hall)

Location: Legend Ln, Thorpe
Capacity: 60 seated
Facilities:

  • Modern kitchen (tea urn, cooker, fridge, microwave), plates and mugs

  • Wheelchair access, accessible restroom, ample parking

  • Tables and chairs available

  • Suitable for: Birthday parties, wedding receptions, business meetings, community gatherings

The old scout hall, now Thorpe Community Hall, is ideal for a variety of occasions, offering a flexible, affordable space with all essential amenities.

 

4. Thorpe City Oval Clubhouse (Refurbishment Pending)

Location: Thorpe City Oval
Facilities:

  • Soon to be refurbished clubhouse

  • Expected to offer modern amenities for community and sporting events

  • Will provide a central hub for local sports teams and community groups

The refurbishment of the Thorpe City Oval clubhouse is part of Upper Glasgow Council’s ongoing investment in public infrastructure, aiming to create inclusive spaces for recreation and community connection.

 

5. Leiselville Community Centre

Location: Jones Rd, Leiselville
Facilities:

  • Multipurpose rooms for hire

  • Suitable for: Community meetings, classes, workshops, private functions

  • Contact details and booking information available through the council’s community directory

Leiselville Community Centre supports a diverse range of activities and is funded through local government grants and community fundraising. It is accessible to all residents and offers flexible spaces for both regular and one-off events.

 

6. Clareburt Community Centre

Location: 24 Lewis St, Clareburt
Facilities:

  • Flexible spaces for hire, including function rooms and halls

  • Suitable for: Parties, meetings, fitness classes, weddings, and community events

  • Amenities: Kitchen facilities, audio-visual equipment, accessible features

  • Booking via council or local community centre directory

Clareburt Community Centre is a cost-effective choice for local events, supporting the community with dedicated spaces and essential amenities.
